NYC Ballet-Gay Male Ballet Dancers Rethink Masculinity

The above links to an article that describes gay male dancers of the New York Ballet performing in Lauren Lovette's Not Our Fate. This ballet centralizes on two men of color rejecting, then finally accepting their love for one another. Instead of putting one of the men in a female role, they instead assign two male roles to work together, as gay couples are in real life. The article describes how traditionally the role of most men duets in ballet was an expression of rivalry or friendship, but these New York Ballet dancers challenge the tradition of homoeroticism in ballet, forming a new outlook on masculinity.
