I found this article today and I thought it was perfect to share. The article is about Representative Doug Cox of Oklahoma. He is a Republican and this is his response to the recent onslaught of Oklahoma laws that aspire to deny women birth control, contraception, and abortion. Most Republicans are Anti Choice and Representative Cox is a rare Republican lawmaker. He is a physician. Representative Cox is a man standing up for women. He is not letting masculinity or patriarchy influence his feelings. Cox dislikes the hypocrisy and extremism that many Republican lawmaker are using in implementing laws related to contraception, birth control and abortion.
Cox said that he cannot convince his Republican colleagues that one of the best ways to eliminate abortions is to ensure access to contraception. He supports Planned Parenthood and their services. The Republican Party is known for going to extreme measures to defund Planned Parenthood. Cox also says that he has people tell him they feel the way he does, but are afraid to vote the way he does.
