Drag queens are typically gay men who dress as women, portraying their interpretation of femininity. In this interview of a famous drag queen, Trixie Mattel, she comments on how society is going in terms of toxic masculinity. A lot of drag is about poking fun at the things that are going on around us and not only how we view society, but how society views us and how we view ourselves. Before the interview even started, the interviewer notes that Trixie came in wearing pink cowboy boots, but changed into pink high heels to do the interview. Although this was most likely for a comfortable and practical commute, it also shows how she took a traditionally masculine item (they are called cowBOY boots for god's sake) and feminized them to go with her look. As small of a thing this may seem to be, it "speaks volumes [to] his dedication to feminization [and] the mixture of traditionally gendered items and a big middle finger to judging eyes." The interview goes on to say that toxic masculinity can present itself within anyone, and it should just be something that we identify, step back, reevaluate, and apply a new mindset towards.
