Something similar to this Atlanta raid happened on June 29th, 2009 on the anniversary of the stonewall riots in Fort Worth, TX. It's sickening that things like this are still happening nowadays. I really hope that the quotes from the police are being exaggerated, because if not it's infuriating to know that the people being paid to "protect and serve" us are that homophobic and racist. Another thing is that this probably wont get much, if any, coverage from the mainstream media.

On the bright side of the story (If you can call it that) there has been a tremendous outpouring of support from the GLBTQ community in Atlanta for the owner of the club and its patrons. There is a link below to the owner of the club speaking to hundreds of GLBTQ folks outside of the eagle for a demonstration voicing their anger about the incident.
