Manly vs. Man

Something I found interesting is the use of the language here of "manly" vs "being a man". Webster says that being manly simply means having qualities associated with a man. So inherently, to be a man is to technically be manly. But our language has evolved to the point where we can recognize a social distinction in calling someone a man and calling someone manly.
