Tyler the Creator
Yesterday I watched Jaden Smith yell out "TYLER IS MY BOYFRIEND" at a festival put on by Tyler the Creator. It made me think about the queer presence in rap culture, or the lack thereof. Back in the 2012-14 era, Tyler was accused of being homophobic because of some harsh lyrics he has previously included. Now, he has gone to the complete opposite route, throwing in words like "I've been kissing white boys since 2004." Huge difference from topics like rape and murder. I think it shows a positive trend, now that he is able to be more himself in the world he is putting out more positive and wholesome messages.
