This article predominantly deals with the side effects of toxic masculinity. As stated, "Even when [masculinity] does not literally kill, it causes a sort of spiritual death, leaving many men traumatized, dissociated and often unknowingly depressed." Without the ability to healthily and safely express emotion, the kind of repression that men feel they need to show leads to either a physical death in the form of alcoholism, workaholism, and violence, or that aforementioned spiritual death. The kind of trauma that is experienced at the hands of "controlled emotions" leads to sublimation. Due to this, the same symptoms of toxic masculinity feed into a cycle of violence and trauma. Stop it at its source.
