This interview report is in relation to the Bill Cosby rumored rape allegations that have been brought up by celebrity Raven Symone as well as other individuals. Phylicia Rashad, his co-host on the show, the Bill Cosby Show, decided to end her silence regarding the issue and allegations and participated in an interview with ABC News regarding the matter. Her message was clear, she was defending Bill Cosby, but most importantly, she was defending his legacy. She stated, “This show represented America to the outside world. This was the American family. And now you’re seeing it being destroyed. Why?”
Currently, these are still “allegations” because trials have not been heard and verdicts have not yet been decided but this entire scandal exemplifies how a dominant male figure may have quite possibly shunned multiple women from coming out regarding severe sexual assault accusations. It is possible that these women felt their voices would not be heard because Bill Cosby is a known celebrity and that would be the reason they never made the allegations sooner. Many times women who are rape victims are blamed for the incident and authorities insinuate that instead of being victims of rape, that they were “looking for it” when that is not the case at all.
It will be interesting to see if there is proof, if any, regarding these allegations that would indeed incriminate Bill Cosby of rape and sexual assault.
